It is never easy to handle the extra-pressure of riding in home soil, but Annemiek van Vleuten (Orica-Scott) turned that responsibility into a powerful victory in the 4.3 kilometre prologue held in Wageningen. As Ellen van Dijk stated after the race, the circuit was a nice mix of straight roads, slight uphill to start with, and then some very technical section at the end. The most unlucky rider of the day was prologue contender Nettie Edmonson (Wiggle-High5), who suffered a puncture and had to change her bike.

No big surprises in the outcome, and the differences in seconds won’t probably be shaken until the time trial held on Thursday. Second stage from Eibergen to Arnhem (132,8 k) is, in theory, the easiest of the 20th edition of the Boels Ladies Tour, unless the weather forecast – rain and wind- plays some unexpected role.
The stage starts at 12.00h and all the action can be followed on the hashtag #BLT2017
