El checo Leopold König ganó este sábado la séptima etapa del Tour de California y el colombiano Janier Acevedo terminó en segundo lugar seguido del estadounidense Tejay van Garderen, quien conservó el liderato asegurándose la victoria en la general a falta de la última etapa dominical.
Konig, del equipo alemán NetApp-Endura, adelantó en las últimas rampas al colombiano a apenas 400 metros de la llegada y completó en tres horas, 54 minutos y 17 segundos el trayecto de 147 kilómetros de Livermore al Monte Diablo.
Acevedo, del equipo Jamis-Hagens Berman y ganador de la segunda etapa, cruzó la meta seis segundos después de Konig, en una subida dura como la de Monte Diablo, de más de 15 kilómetros, que en esta ocasión no resultó tan decisiva como en ediciones anteriores.
Van Garderen, de 24 años y del conjunto BMC, entró tercero a 12 segundos después. Junto a él, entró su máximo adversario en la lucha por la victoria en la general, Michael Rogers (Saxo), quedando por tanto segundo a 1:47 del americano, con Acevedo, tercero a 3:26.
La prueba californiana, apodada como la más grande de América concluye el domingo con una etapa de 129,8 kilómetros de San Francisco a Santa Rosa. El último paseo para que Van Garderen pueda saborear las mieles de un más que merecido triunfo.
